Daniel Hughes Fly Fishing

My name is Daniel Hughes, I'm an experienced full time Fly Fishing Guide for the Guadalupe River and Central Texas. I created this business to give clients and myself a unique and enjoyable time on the river. I offer professional guided trips on some of Texas's best waterways and strive to teach others about fly fishing and the outdoors. For me guiding is not all about the fish, but about the experience we're having out on the water. I've put in countless hours exploring, researching, and connecting to the sections of river I have listed on this site. On each trip I do my best to help folks have a good time, learn about the river, and catch Fish.

My first fly fishing experience was on the Texas Coast when I was 13.  One of my parents friends Kevin Mark gave me crash course casting lesson and we set off wading flats looking for Redfish.  I ended up getting super lucky and actually caught a nice 25" Red.  From there my next experience was on a road trip to Colorado with fellow fly fishing guide Cody LaCroix and some of our other good friends back in 2011.  We had a great time seeing the state and ended up trying to fly fish on the South Platte River near Deckers.  After returning from that trip I had the bug. I set aside the spinning rods and started building fly rods and tying flies to keep feeding the habit.  During this time I was working on a mechanical engineering degree at UTSA, and in my 3rd year couldn't do it anymore and dropped out in 2015. I got a job at a local fly shop and decided to chase my dreams. To this day I think it's one of the best decisions I've ever made.
